Unfortunately, today was our last day of camp. Luckily, we made it one of the best days yet! For breakfast, the French campers got up early to prepare some delicious crêpes for us. Then, we worked in our language groups, not only on our presentations for the end of the game, but we also played different games in our groups. We all got together to play capture the flag, but with hula hoops, before lunch! Lunch was delicious handmade dumplings, and everyone got a change to try their hand at making them! After lunch, we got to go boating again. It was so nice to be out on the water on paddle boards, kayaks and canoes! We were a little sunburned and tired when we got back, but we were treated to a hamburger cookout for dinner! To wrap up our day, we got to present in our languages something to the camp as a whole, and eat s'mores before bed! We're all sad that camp is over, but we'll always have our memories of our fun adventures! We hope to see everyone again next year!

Today was a very exciting day! This morning, we split up into two groups. The first group went on a fun-filled adventure to the Fiske Planetarium and NREL to explore our world, here on Earth and in the universe. The international students stayed at camp in the morning, working on their English and team work skills by working to set up their tents for their outdoor stay tonight. Then, we all met back up in the afternoon for mini golfing! After that, we returned to camp and played games before a delicious Chinese hotpot meal. We're tired, but happy!

This morning, after a delicious Japanese breakfast, the International students split off to go on a day trip to Rocky Mountain National Park. They had a stupendous time exploring the park, from hiking through the mountains to visiting Emerald Lake. The other campers had a relaxing day back at camp. They did a lot of hard work in their language groups, and also got to play games all together, from Clue to badminton. All in all, today was a great day, full of fun activities and time to relax. We are sad that the week is coming to an end, but we are also excited to share all the fun adventures we have had, and will have!

Today we started with an extra early breakfast and headed to Bear Creek Archery for some target practice. Some of us hit the bulls eye while others hit the foam, but we all had FUN. Then we drove to Chatfield for some water sports. We paddle boated, canoed, and kayaked our way around the reservoir. Exhausted from our long day of activities we drove our way home and rested with card games, Mafia and other activities.

We started this morning with morning exercise and a Japanese breakfast. Then we headed off to Mt. Falcon and went on a nice relaxing hike through nature. After that we headed back and some of the us played badminton, threw a football, practiced piano and played cards during our free time. We did some team building such as the human knot and really got close to each other. We capped our day off with some sushi and free time. Looking forward to tomorrow's adventures and our 6:00 a.m. wake up time.

We spent the morning in Georgetown in the mountains before returning to camp for lunch. After lunch, the new campers started to arrive! We got to play card games with them before dinner, which was delicious pizza. After dinner, we went out and played some different get-to-know-you games and did some team-building exercises! We went to bed before the Chinese campers arrived late. We can't wait to see what this next week brings for everyone!

Today we said goodbye to some of our campers: Tommy, Natalie, Emma and Taryn. But we were comforted by some rafting and zip lining at Adventure Park. We went through an EPIC eight line course and then cooled down with some lunch. After lunch we took a bus up to Glenwood Springs and rafted down Clear Creek. We rode around six miles down the river and took a van back home. Dinner was prepared by our lovely Japanese group and we wrapped our day up with Spy Kids in Spanish. We look forward to meeting the new campers tomorrow.

We had an early wake up time of 6:30 and had a rushed breakfast and caught our vans to Rocky Mountain National Park. We braved the two hour journey and met with ranger Katherine and Brie. They taught us about forest fires and how life takes root afterwards. Then we took off the trail and onto uncharted terrain to map wildlife and other data points. It was worth getting pricked by plants and bitten by bugs, because we learned about the cycle of life! We made it back to camp, played some games and had some MOUTHWATERING COOKIES made by camp counselor Caroline. It was an epic way to end our first week in camp!

Today we had a FANTASTIC Spanish breakfast and then marched our way to Adventure Mini Golf. We shredded our way through 18 holes of Buccaneer Place and then another 18 on Lost Island. After that we marched our way to the ropes course and conquered our fear of heights. It was challenging, but we persevered and passed obstacle after obstacle. Once we returned we weren't tired yet and played badminton until our Spanish students had to cook our delicious dinner of fajitas. We ended our day with the camp store and some riveting games of mafia. We hit the hay early to catch our ride to Rocky Mountain National Park tomorrow morning.

Today, we were fueled with French food. After morning activities and breakfast, we listened to a presentation by a fire marshal about wildfires in the mountains and fire safety in our language groups. We did team-building exercises involving trust and cooperation before lunch, and then after lunch we headed to the lake. At the lake, we got to go canoeing, paddle boarding and paddle boating! We played games while the Spanish group was grocery shopping before dinner, and then after we wrote our journals and got ready for bed.

This morning, after our Japanese breakfast, we left camp to go to archery! Archery was fun, but difficult. We all definitely improved by the end! After returning for lunch, we split into our language groups for fire lessons in target languages. Then, the counselors lead us on a geocaching scavenger hunt around the campus after some team-building exercises. Then, we played card games before our traditional Japanese dinner. We finished the day by writing journals before bed.

Last field trip! We had a fantastic day at Rocky Mountain National Park: great weather, numerous wildlife (squirrels, camp robbers etc.) sightings, and lots to learn about the weather station and climate change. Then we headed to National Center of Atmosphere Center and had fun with the hand-on exhibitions. We are cleaning and packing right now, with laughter everywhere.

It was a day full of amazing surprise.
All three language groups did a wonderful job on their science projects, namely: Sphero of Wind for Spanish, Research on Paper Planes for Japanese, and Weather Forecast for French group. We also enjoyed the songs and tongue twisters from each group – Please check the videos in our sharing folder.
We tried Zomba dance, then the dinner today was outside grill and salad! After that, we set up the bonfire again, enjoyed the stories of the two weeks and full moon.

In the morning language session, we practiced songs and tongue twisters for the presentation tomorrow. Then after a delicious Japanese meal, campers had a great time hiking from the east access of Mt. Falcon with a clear view of Red Rocks.
Tonight we were working on our science projects and then watched several episodes of Japanese anime, with some miso soup to try out. A tired but fun day!

It is Day Ten already. How time flies! The schedule today is similar to yesterday. We have a fun early walk uphill from our campsite, and also store enough wood for the bonfire with coverage, just in case of the rain. We are happy to have some language exchange going on: picking up other campers’ languages is fun! And we are more confident speak in front of others in target language.

The schedule today went back to the normal stay-in version, with full three-hour language programs, science experiments, outdoor activities like horseshoes, volleyball and badminton, and other language immersion activities.
The highlights of today is the “News On Air” project. Our Spanish student presented the events from previous day and the host a weather forecast in Spanish, slowly but with clear improvement. We are really looking forwards to what the French group will deliver tomorrow.

Two new campers joined us into our French and Japanese Camps today. After the introduction, review of the code of the conduct, and Scavenger Hunt in target language, the “Air” week officially started. New councilor-in-training is in charge of our little weather station, and all groups chose their science projects. Other that language programs, Spanish group organized a short hike and French program led amazing volleyball matches, while Japanese group made great ramen and sushi to share -- wasabi was quite remarkable!

Today we visited the Commons Park for the Exhibition of Biennial Festival, learning about the flooding history of Denver. Unfortunately we stayed too long and missed the second exhibition at Museum of Contemporary Art. We took the advantage of the extra time to visit the Union Station and an expo at the Civic Center Park.
In the afternoon, the camper enjoyed their time at SkateCity and their last class about Earth after a relax session and the grocery with their language groups.
We also said goodbye to all the Week 1 campers. Miss you.

It is almost the end of the first week. We took this chance to deliver the science projects: Rocky Jello, Robot on the Earth and Mineral Structure Model. Not only the presentation itself was wonderful, but also combined with their cooking, singing and programming skills.
After a cleaning-up to have the cabin ready for Week 2 campers, we set up a bonfire and reflected on the first week. It was fun! Is there going to be another bonfire in Week 2?

Morning we went to the Rocky Mountain National Park. The first stop was the Beaver Meadow Visitor Center, for a documentary about the history of the 100 year-old park. After we went for a hike near Cub Lake Trail inside the preserved park. During the peaceful hike, we observed 5 different rocks of our choosing and played near the stream. Then we continued to Messiah Mountain to stay for the rest of the two weeks.
Campers from Japanese team and a couple of wonderful volunteers prepared a tasteful meal with Nikujyaga (stewed beef), Tsukemono (pickled fresh vegetable), Gohan (steamed rice) and Ke-ki (cake) as dessert. Thank you, Team J and our counselors-in-training!

After having Chinese food for breakfast, we worked on science experiments in our language groups and we worked on our presentations in our languages in the morning. We played some capture the flag before we ate lunch, and for the rainy part of the evening we played games all together and finished a Japanese movie. When the rain stopped, we went and did some archery. For dinner, the Chinese campers made dumplings and spring rolls. After dinner was our campfire and presentations, and we ate lots of s'mores while singing songs around the fire.

From there we went to the challenge course, where we did lots of team building activities. Back at the cabin, we learned more about geology from Ms. Lisa before eating a delicious Spanish meal.

2012:
July 20, 2012: This morning we went out for a little hike and wrote stories about nature. Then we made origami and attached them to cards. After that we packed our stuff and cleaned the cabin. After a delicious lunch, we went down to the Canoe Pond and canoed for a little less than two hours, and we all got tipped a lot. It started thundering and we had to get out, but we returned to the Paintbrush cabin and moved all our stuff to our new cabin, Horse Lodge. This week was so much fun and we all had an amazing time.
July 19, 2012: This morning, we ate a delicious breakfast before jogging to the zip-line, where we zip-lined until lunch. After lunch we went rock-climbing; learning to ballet properly and having lots of fun climbing. After we finished, it started thundering so canoeing was canceled. We returned to the cabin and painted a huge canvas collage.
July 18, 2012: We woke up a little earlier than usual so that we could get on our bus. From there we drove through Rocky Mountain National Park, making several stops and learning a lot about the ecology from our tour guide. We saw many different types of plants and lots of animals, like elk, snowshoe rabbits, ground squirrels and marmots. After we ate lunch up in the park, we headed back down falling asleep in the process. When we arrived back at the cabin, we ate a delicious meal made by the French program.
July 17, 2012: After our morning language class, we did Andes mountain pattern paintings on sticks, which turned out beautifully. After lunch, we went to archery where everyone had a chance to shoot a bull's eye. From there we went to challenge course, where we overcome new obstacles, all tougher than before. For dinner we had a delicious Chinese meal; rice, vegetables, chicken and noodles.
July 16, 2012: After language classes in the morning, we ate a delicious lunch and set out for archery. Then it started raining so we had to turn around and go to the Activity Center, where we played ping-pong, air hockey and board games. We were still there when it started hailing, impairing us from going to rock climbing. But we rescheduled for later in the week and had lots of fun anyway.
July 15, 2012: We slept in as long as we were allowed to and after eating pancakes for breakfast we cleaned the entire cabin. Then we played games until our five new campers arrived, although they arrived late in the afternoon. After dinner we played some games; icebreakers and get-to-know-you-games.
July 14, 2012: We woke up early this morning and ate a quick breakfast so that we could go meet the school bus at 7:00. After a long drive we arrived at the Denver Art Museum where we looked at art from around the world. From there we went to the German Festival, where we ate hot dogs for lunch, performed and took part in a bratwurst eating contest. After a stop at the Boulder Library for an "ikebana" flower exhibition, we arrived back at the cabin for a late dinner.
July 13, 2012: This morning after breakfast we did art, while some people went shopping. After lunch we went to archery and everyone got a bull's-eye. From there we went straight to the zipline which was super fun. After that we started making dinner: dumplings and spring rolls. Then we had a campfire; performing songs and eating s'mores.
July 12, 2012: This morning after breakfast we did art, painting sticks in a pattern from the Andes Mountains. After welcoming our new Japanese teacher and eating lunch, we went to archery. Everyone is improving! Next we went down to the Canoe Lake and played some games, like canoe hockey. But it started raining and hailing so we went back to the cabin and made onigiri balls for dinner.
July 11, 2012: This morning after breakfast we went down to the Challenge Course, to complete some even tougher challenges than yesterday, like the Great Expedition. After we finished and ate lunch, we went geo-caching, which is basically you use a G.P.S. to find a certain place at the camp. We all found our goals and learned loads in the process.
July 10, 2012: This morning we did activities with our program language, such as drinking traditional tea or writing a short story. After lunch, we went to archery and everyone is improving! From there we went to the Challenge Course, a series of obstacles we had to overcome as a team so as to get to Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory. We made it there safely!
July 9, 2012: This morning we did activities with our program language to learn some vocabulary. After lunch, we took a short hike to the archery range, where every camper hit the target and most made bull's-eyes. From there we went straight to climbing, where we climbed a huge boulder and learned proper ballet techniques.
